S1

S1 Continuous Duty

The motor works at a constant load for enough time to reach temperature equilibrium

S2

S2 Short Time Duty

The motor works at a constant load, but not long enough to reach temperature equilibrium, and the rest periods are long enough for the motor to reach ambient temperature

Examples: S2 – 60 min (The time means 60 minutes rating)

S3

S3 Intermittent Periodic Duty

Sequential, identical run and rest cycles with constant load. Temperature equilibrium is never reached. Starting current has little effect on temperature rise. Example: S3 - 5% (The percent figure refers to the cyclic duration factor)

Ts...............................time of rest

Tb + Ts = approximately 1 to 10 minutes
  The values S1, S2 and S3 given in the Table apply to nominal load.
