Compliance with EU Directives

In accordance with the EC directive, a CE symbol must be attached to all electrically driven machinery, devices, and systems produced, imported, and sold within the European Union.
The EC Directive includes the following individual directives relevant for users of motors

a. Machinery Directive

The Machinery Directive 98/37/EC provides the regulatory basis for the harmonization of the essential health and safety requirement for machinery at European Union Level. Machinery is described in the Directive as “ an assembly of linked parts or components, at least one of which moves, with the appropriate actuators, control and power circuit, etc., together for a specific application, in particular for the processing, treatment, moving or packaging of a material”.

b. Low Voltage Directive

The Directive seeks to ensure that electrical equipment within certain voltage limits provides a high level of electrical protection. It covers electrical equipment designed for use with a voltage rating of between 50 and 1,000 V for alternating current and between 75 and 1,500 V for direct current.

c. Electromagnetic Compatibility

The Directive applies to most electrical and electronic apparatus, that is, finished products and systems that include electrical and electronic equipment. It ensure that the electromagnetic disturbance generated by apparatus does not exceed a level allowing radio and telecommunications equipment and other apparatus to operate as intended.
